Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the 83rd Annual Session of the Indian Roads Congress in Raipur to deliberate on the future of India’s road infrastructure.
Guided by the vision of Honourable Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, along with the support of Honourable Minister of State MoRTH Shri Ajay Tamta Ji, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, the Deputy Chief Minister, and other dedicated leaders, the event underscored our collective commitment to creating safer, more efficient, and smarter roads for all.
Our transportation sector continues to face significant challenges:
• Increasing road accidents and fatalities
• Traffic congestion
• Environmental impact
• Infrastructure limitations
• Higher logistics cost
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) present an integrated solution that combines Human (driver), Infrastructure, and Vehicle technologies to address these issues.
It is a convergence of multiple advanced technologies, positioning us to tackle 21st-century transportation challenges with:
• Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)
• Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
• Internet of Things (IoT) in ITS
• GIS in ITS
• Telematics and Edge Computing in ITS
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ITS
The objective of these emerging technologies is to enable a sustainable, safe, and efficient transport system in India, aligned with the Vikshit Bharat Vision@2047.
The mission is clear: ensure commuter safety, affordability, and convenience while promoting inclusivity across all modes of transport, reducing congestion and logistics costs.
ITS has the potential to:
• Monitor traffic in real time,
• Reduce congestion, and
• Prevent accidents before they occur.
Imagine a road network that not only moves you faster but also ensures your safety and affordability—this is the future we are committed to realizing with ITS.
These discussions are more than theoretical; they represent essential steps toward shaping a transport system that enhances our quality of life and ensures the sustainable growth of our nation.
Stay connected to see how these deliberations will impact the journey ahead for India’s roadways.
