India poised to become Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Hub by 2030

New Delhi :   At the recently concluded  Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2025 in Atlanta, India show cased it’s ITS prowess showcasing breakthroughs in tolling, road safety, and connected mobility, India signaled  its readiness to set global benchmarks in smart and sustainable transport.

The ITS World Congress 2025 more than 5,600 delegates, 224 exhibitors, and representatives from 57 countries attended the event.  Themed “Deploying Today, Empowering Tomorrow,” the event is the world’s premier platform for intelligent transport systems (ITS) and smart mobility.

The ITS India Forum, an apex body promoting ITS unveiled an exclusive India Pavilion and, for the first time in Congress history, hosted a dedicated panel on “ITS in India.

“The India Pavilion, inaugurated at the Georgia World Congress Center, has already become a focal point of attention. Designed as a dynamic hub of ideas and collaboration, the Pavilion highlighted the country’s rapid journey from pilot projects to nationwide ITS deployment. It showcased breakthrough Solutions from the transformative FASTag program to the next leap with ANPR-FASTag based Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling, India presented technologies that combine digital innovation with real-world scale.” Sid Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, President, International Road Federation -India Chapter (IRF-IC) and an eminent ITS expert .

“India showcased Road Safety measures, Safe Driving Scores, AI-enabled enforcement, and connected vehicle alerts aimed at reducing India’s road fatalities.For Connected and Sustainable Mobility – India’s demonstrations of V2X pilots, multimodal integration, and EV-friendly infrastructure reflect its strong alignment with Net Zero 2070 pathways.” Mr Srivastava said.

“WE also showcased India’s progress in AI-driven traffic management, multimodal transport integration, and EV adoption, with direct impacts on congestion and efficiency. The Government Push, Policy initiatives spanning digital highways, smart cities, EV expansion, and logistics corridors provide fertile ground for ITS adoption.These factors together make India a natural leader in defining the future of global ITS.” He added

India was Positioned as a global hub for ITS solutions by 2030.
